Tummy Tuck

Need a solution for tummy fat? Did exercise and dieting not achieve the shape you’d like? Maybe your stomach hasn’t been the same after giving birth? Whatever your situation, talk to us a Body Spectrum Plastic Surgery about getting a tummy tuck. A safe treatment that delivers results.

What is Abdominoplasty?

Abdominoplasty (also referred to as a tummy tuck) is a surgical procedure performed to remove fatty deposits or extra skin from the abdomen. During the procedure, our plastic surgeon will reposition the abdomen muscles into a tighter formation. This body enhancement assists those who want tighter abdominal muscles and a flatter stomach. This procedure also remedies diastasis, or the vertical separation of abdominal muscles. This can occur after pregnancy.

When should I consider Abdominoplasty?

  • If diet and exercise have failed to improve the appearance of your abdominal area.
  • If your tummy has excess skin after significant weight loss.
  • If you have diastasis or loss of skin elasticity following pregnancy.
  • If you would like to remove unsightly skin and fatty deposits, realigning your abdominal muscles to obtain a more flattering look.

What happens during the Procedure?

An abdominoplasty surgery can last anywhere from one to five hours, due to the individualized nature of tummy tucks. The procedure starts with an incision just above the pubic bone, running horizontally across the lower abdomen and occasionally around to the back. Sometimes an additional incision around the navel is required for best results. Then, our plastic surgeon will separate the skin from the muscle tissue, remove excess skin, and tighten the abdomen muscles to create a firm and contoured stomach and waistline. The surgeon then closes the incision and carefully stitches the skin together.

What can I expect during recovery?

Recovering from any surgical procedure requires patients to rest and refrain from excessive movement or activities for about two weeks following the surgery. As the body heals, patients can expect some swelling and discomfort in the abdominal area. Surgeons can prescribe medication to relieve any pain. Shortly after surgery, the stitches will be removed, and you may resume normal activities after an additional two weeks of recovery. Your body may take up to a year to fully adapt to the new shape, but with diet and exercise, the results of your tummy tuck will be long-lasting.

We will put our expertise to use, giving you results that look organic and stunning.

Why Liposuction

Liposuction is an effective way to remove fatty deposits from your body. Even though proper diet and exercise are still important, some people have trouble reducing their love handles or other stubborn areas no matter how much work they put in. With 25 years of experience in plastic surgery, Dr. Bruce R. Barton, M.D. can give you a flattering, well-proportioned figure. Liposuction means a flatter stomach, to some. To others, it means removing a double chin. Since liposuction is unique to each treatment, it will be tailored to your specific needs. Use our treatment to remove fat deposits from problem areas such as:

  • Stomach and waistline
  • Chin and neckline
  • Upper arms
  • Hips
  • Back
  • Buttocks
  • Knees and Thighs
  • Calves and ankles

We can target multiple areas in one session, which means you’ll finally get the results, and more importantly the confidence, you have been missing.

What can I expect?

Liposuction is a simple process. You are put under general anesthesia. While under, the surgeon will make a tiny incision and insert a cannula. The cannula is a tiny vacuum that removes fatty tissue. After our surgeon has removed the desired amount of excess fat, he will apply compression dressing. Depending on the amount of fat removal, the session can last from thirty minutes to a couple of hours.

The recovery process fluctuates depending on the type and breadth of your procedure. You will be advised beforehand on the recommended recovery time and your post-treatment limitations. Complications are rare, and after some minor pain after the surgery, you can anticipate a full recovery.
